Spring Break
Today starts our long spring break where students have 2 weekends off. I hope everyone takes lots of photos for usage in class. Come back ready to learn some more!
One more try...

I'm posting a composite image where I used a color image. It is from my stock photo collection of Rappahannock County. This building was an elementary school at one time, later a tourist stop with crafts, to the current usage of housing non-profit organizations in the county.
I did not erase around the building to see how it would look. In my opinion, the result is not as "neat" as my other efforts.
Better than the first one...

Using my standard photo of myself worked a little better. I first used Photoshop to change the image from a color one to a black and white. It took some time to erase the background around my head. I used the magic lasso tool with different tolerances to select just my head. Then I clicked inverse to select just the background. This made it much quicker to erase the background. I think I was more accurate than trying to use the erasure without a selection done first.
I still think I need many more pennies as the background. Maybe I should try to create a pattern of the pennies and tile them first. I think the background looks "too big". One penny is about the size of my eye and that is what I'm most concerned with.
I saw an Ad... I think I can do that!

While looking at a magazine the other day, an advertisement caught my eye. I decided to gather up some pennies and make one myself. My first thought was to not glue the pennies to a piece of foam board. After actually getting the pennies ($10.00) worth, I realized it took a bit of time even arrange the coins in even rows. The thought of recovering then later was bad. I stood on a chair and simply took a picture looking straight down.
Expectations for Image Students this Spring of 2009
I hope everyone takes the time to read what I have posted from the beginning. This will give you more of a senxe of what I expect to see on your blog.
I want to see at least 2 posts per week until the end of the semester. These can be photos that you took and wish to share with the world, Photoshop works completed as class assignments, or simply words talking about what you are learning about in the imaging world. A word of caution: Only post your class finals graded items since these should be images that you personally took and own. Be aware of copyrights.
I now repeat myself from what you heard in class: Do NOT post anything that is not school appropriate. I check your blogs daily and will insist that we all follow the strict guidelines in school policy. Please do not put me in the position of censure. I like to think I only post items (words or images) I feel my mother would be proud that I did.

Image III - a new effort to blog more...

Spring is beginning to come again with warmer days and more sun. April Fool's day was earlier this week and that was all it took to spur my memory. I fondly remember starting this blog for the first every Imaging Technology class. So... Once again I post a photo of my class for parents and friends alike to see what we are up to in class. Even though the class is small in size (only 9 kids), I will definitely remember every one of these interesting young adults. You may even be able to discern personality from the photo.
